Singapore police investigate 292 suspects for scams

SINGAPORE, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) — Singaporean police are investigating 292 suspects for scam offenses following an enforcement operation from Oct. 4 to Thursday, according to the latest statement from the police.
The suspects were involved in nearly 1,300 cases, including job scams, friend impersonation scams, internet love scams, investment scams, e-commerce scams, and fake buyer scams.
The police said victims lost over 10.3 million Singapore dollars (7.9 million U.S. dollars).
The suspects were under investigation for cheating, money laundering, or providing payment services without a license. ■
