Bear Vault BV450 Food Storage for Backpackers, 7.2 liter capacity, polycarbonate

Description

This is a Bear Vault BV450 polycarbonate food container for backpackers.  We bought it but wound up not using it (we have a second one).
It is approved for most areas that require bear-resistant food containers (both black and grizzly bears).
The BearVault BV450 features simple access and is advertised to have sufficient volume for a 4-day backpacking trip or a weekend trip for 2.
It is made of strong polycarbonate plastic. Campers stash BearVaults on the ground a distance from their camp.
We have modified it as follows:  added reflecting tape to make it easy to find at night, or in case a bear moves it. The two tabs have been painted white to make them easier for the camper to locate in order to depress and open the lid.
Specs: Transparent canister and wide opening makes is easy to view contents and retrieve specific foods. Gear capacity 7.2 liters (440 cubic inches), which the company claims is sufficient for a 4-day solo backpacking trip or a weekend trip for 2.
No special tool required although those with cold hands sometimes use a credit card to slip under tabs to open lid. Container doubles as a camp stool.
